OSHUN ME

R&B duo OSHUN take their name from a spirit goddess that represents love, beauty and fertility in the Ifá and Yoruba religions in West Africa. The duo is made up of Thandiwe and Niambi Sala who come from the DC area and describe their music as “the sonic manifestation of Afrofuturism.” Their debut album was released last year. However, they've just delivered a music video for mid-album track 'Me', directed by Chelsea O. The video begins with a flying saucer, accompanied by digital celestial noise. OSHUN are sat on apartment steps, when alien versions of themselves appear to give them some advice. They are wearing amazing outfits, with eccentric hair-doos and a big purple cone each for a bra, which adds an element of humour, along with their creepily static smiles. Their irises are white, and the two alien's seem to pass on these supernatural eyes, along with their wisdom to OSHUN. The duo confidently skate and dance over a bridge in NYC, then to a skate park with their friends, and they rap uplifting and confident lines like "celebrating elements that keep my mind right". -Ellie Rose-Davies
